Ballpark was founded by Basia Kurlender, a visual artist, musician, and Pratt Institute graduate (BFA, summa cum laude) who spent years looking for the kind of guidance and support she couldn't find. Basia plays in Marbling (formerly of The Glaciers and Rock Solid) and knows firsthand what it's like to be a working musician navigating an industry that wasn't built for artists. She also runs GREAT BETTER BEST, a graphic design studio with a client roster including Snapchat, Nike, McDonald's, Vans, Venmo, Peloton, Nordstrom, The North Face, and Patreon.
Our team, also made up of independent musicians and artists, understands the challenge of dividing attention between creative work and administrative tasks. We take care of the logistics so you can stay focused on making work.
Ballpark isn't just a management agency, we're also an active concert and festival promoter with deep roots in Long Island and the tri-state area. We've produced 30+ live events including concerts, gallery pop-ups, a skate festival, a listening walk series, and more. We were awarded a grant by Suffolk County for our DIY concert and art workshop series. We're trusted by 100+ bands, 10+ venues, 20+ sponsors, and institutional partners including New York State Council on the Arts, the Village of Patchogue, Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island, and Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center. We're also trusted by national brands like D'Addario and Bitchin' Sauce to promote their products at our events.
In our first year, Ballpark's own social audience grew from 50 followers to 1.65K — a 3,200% increase year over year. Since launching our management division, we've developed and executed full album cycle release strategies, launched major social media campaigns, secured festival and booker applications, and researched and pitched to labels, press outlets, and playlist curators across both music and visual art.
We treat people of all identities and walks of life with the same respect and understanding. On the booking side, our shows are welcoming and accessible. We believe in fair compensation for creative labor, which is part of why we built our pricing model the way we did.
Ballpark brings a broad range of disciplines to the table. We can handle PR, social media, creative direction, graphic design, and more across music, visual art, and other creative industries. That cross-disciplinary fluency matters because we understand how these worlds overlap, where the opportunities are, and how to move in both. Our team is embedded in the local scene, present at shows, and personally invested in your career in a way that larger firms structurally cannot offer.
Ballpark is different than most management agencies. The standard management model runs on a percentage of earnings, which means managers are incentivized to chase revenue-generating activity and deprioritize everything else, including strategy, creative development, and the long-game work that actually builds a career. It also puts traditional management out of reach for most independent and emerging artists. Most agencies also lock artists into long contracts with opaque terms, handshake deals, and little accountability for what actually gets done.
In contrast, Ballpark operates on a flat monthly retainer with a transparent tiered structure, so you always know what you're paying and what you're getting. Each month, you select the services you need, and we work through them together. Every deliverable is defined upfront and tracked to completion, so you always know exactly what you're getting.
